Hidden Gems of Essaouira: Off the Beaten Path
Secret caves, Berber villages, deserted beaches: discover the Essaouira tourists never see.
Beyond the photogenic medina and famous ramparts, Essaouira hides treasures only locals know. After years exploring this region, here are our best-kept secrets.
The Cap Sim cave
Accessible only by quad or on foot after a long walk, this cave overlooks the ocean. Inside, rock formations sculpted by time. Outside, a 180° view of the Atlantic. We take our clients there during the 3-hour quad circuit.
The freshwater spring in the dunes
In the middle of sand dunes, a freshwater spring emerges. Locals have come here for generations. The water is fresh, pure, and the contrast with the surrounding desert is striking.
Taguenza village
A small fishing port 30 minutes from Essaouira. No tourists, just fishermen mending nets and children playing. The grilled fish here is the best in the region.
Moulay Bouzerktoun beach
Wilder than Sidi Kaouki, this beach is a well-kept secret among local surfers. Waves are perfect, crowds nonexistent. Accessible by quad during our half-day circuits.
The Diabat argan forest
Just behind the dunes, an ancient forest where goats climb trees. In the morning, the light is magical. We cross it during our horse rides.
The Sidi Kaouki marabout
A white sanctuary perched on a hill, facing the ocean. Locals come to meditate. The sunset from this point is one of the most beautiful in the region.
